There was never a doubt that I wanted to train animals as a career. My dog training career started at a young age, after years of apprenticeship with a dog trainer, working at kennels learning proper kennel management, and working as a Veterinary Technician I began my professional dog training career in 1995. In 1999, as newlyweds, my husband and I opened the doors to our own dog training business in our home. It was a huge hit and we quickly grew and partnered with a kennel to expand our dog training services. For twelve years, we serviced all of Southern California with our dog training services as well as mentoring future dog trainers.
Our own little family grew as well in this time and in 2012, we made the difficult decision to sell our dog training business to focus on me being a stay-at-home mom. I continued to train dogs during that time and realized that I really liked focusing on one dog at a time and giving each dog my un-divided attention. I have found I can manage my two loves: training dogs and my family in one place, out of my home and as a result it has become a family affair with everyone taking a role in the training process.
My background includes training dogs for personal protection work, search and rescue, narcotics detection, therapy dog work, service dog work, conformation, film & theatre, basic & advanced on and off leash training, and behavior modification.
In the last eight years, I have immersed myself in the practice of holistic modalities for overall dog wellness and behavior. It's been an honor to have been featured in the nationally distributed Dog's Naturally Magazine and speak Animal Wellness Conferences as an expert on how essential oils can help successfully influence behavior modification training in dogs.
I hold a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Criminal Justice from California State University, San Bernardino.
When I started dating Liz in 1995, she was already well into her dog training career. It's funny now, but when I met her I was actually AFRAID of dogs! I quickly got over that and before I knew it, I was actually her side-kick assistant dog trainer. Here I am , 24 years later helping her train thousands of dogs all shapes and sizes. I've been the secondary trainer to Liz all these years, helping the dogs she trains listen well to more than one person. It's important that I'm not "the perfect trainer" because it helps the dogs to listen well to and transfer the training easily to the dog owner.
When I'm not helping her train the dogs, I"m providing distractions, helping her bathe, clean up and of course work my normal 9-5.
